Occasionally people find a certificate template online and fill it out, in an attempt to issue a free online medical certificate, but this is not recommended as it may not be accepted by employers or other organizations. There may also be legal ramifications with creating an unauthorised medical certificate.

The reason DoctorsNote does not offer free medical certificates online is that the certificate is for the protection of the patient and should be genuinely issued by a qualified, practising medical professional. Should a certificate be outdated, inaccurate or false, it could lead to problems in the future. Also, if the certificate does not provide enough information to prove the validity of the medical condition, complications might ensue.

In summary, a free online medical certificate may be thought of as a useful tool for providing evidence of a medical condition or illness, however, it is important that a certificate is genuine and not a fake or free medical certificate created online.

At DoctorsNote we are often asked about the possibility of obtaining a free online medical certificate. There is a small charge attached to the issuing of a Doctors Note, but this is for a very good reason.

The certificate usually includes the name of the medical practitioner who issued it, the date, and the diagnosis or condition that was certified. It may also include any recommended treatment or follow-up care.

To be vaild and accepted, a Medical Certificate should be signed off by a qualified Australian Medical Practitioner, most commonly a GP or medical doctor. The common way of obtaining a medical certificate is by visiting a doctor or medical practitioner and explaining the need for a certificate. The doctor will then assess the patient's condition and issue a certificate.
