Doctors Note Australia ("we", "our", "us") is operated by Walia Medical Pty Ltd (ABN 52158069080). Our service allows you to apply for a medical certificate online, which is reviewed and issued by Dr Rupinder Singh Walia, an AHPRA-registered General Practitioner (Registration MED0001647256).
To use this service, you must:
You complete an online application form describing your reason for requesting a medical certificate. To help process your application, we use automated and AI-assisted tools to perform an initial triage screen and to prepare a draft clinical advice note (see Section 4). A registered GP then reviews your application — together with any AI-generated output — and decides, in their clinical discretion, whether a certificate is appropriate. If approved, your certificate and a clinical advice note are sent to you by email, generally within 24 hours. Certificates cover one or two days and are valid Australia-wide.
We use a secure third-party AI service (provided by Anthropic, PBC, in the United States) to assist our doctor by screening applications and drafting advice notes. The AI does not make the final decision about your certificate — a registered GP reviews every application and remains solely responsible for the clinical decision and the certificate issued. Details of what information is sent to this service, and how it is handled, are set out in our Privacy Policy.
Certificates issued by Doctors Note are medical certificates issued by an AHPRA-registered GP and are valid under the Fair Work Act 2009. Certificates are issued for the current day or the following day only; we do not issue backdated certificates. However, we cannot guarantee acceptance by every employer or educational institution, as acceptance policies vary.
Each certificate includes a unique reference number and a QR code. If you give your certificate to an employer, education provider or other third party, they may use the reference or QR code to verify it at doctorsnote.com.au/verify. The verification page confirms limited details such as your name, the dates covered, the issuing doctor and the issue date. It does not display your diagnosis or symptoms. Anyone who holds your certificate reference or QR code can perform this check.
All applications are assessed at the sole clinical discretion of the reviewing doctor. We reserve the right to decline any application without providing a specific reason.
Nothing in this clause limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Standard sick leave, carer’s leave and student medical certificates are priced at $14.95 AUD for up to 2 days. Fit-to-work certificates start from $29.95 AUD and mental-health certificates use a separate $29.95 AUD pathway. Payment is required at the time of application and is processed securely by card or PayPal.
This service is not a substitute for emergency medical treatment. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 000 immediately. Our service is designed for minor, self-limiting conditions where a brief absence from work or study is appropriate.
You warrant that all information provided in your application is true, accurate, and complete. Providing false or misleading information may result in your application being declined, your certificate being revoked, and may constitute a criminal offence.
We handle your personal and health information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, store and share your information, including our use of AI tools and service providers, some of which are located overseas.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, Walia Medical Pty Ltd is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our service, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service.
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
