The scalp catches a surprising amount of sun — especially with short or thinning hair — and is one of the easiest places to miss a skin cancer, simply because you cannot see it. If a spot on your scalp is worrying you, a doctor can review a photo of it for $49 and tell you whether it needs an in-person look.
What to look for on the scalp
The warning signs are the same anywhere on the body — a spot that is new, changing, growing, bleeding, or will not heal, or a mole that stands out from your others. On the scalp, watch especially for:
- A rough or scaly patch you can feel when washing or combing.
- A sore that won’t heal or keeps bleeding.
- A new or changing mole or lump.

Worried about a mole, mark or changing skin area?
Most skin-cancer advice tells you to watch for change. Skin360AI helps you keep photos of one or more spots connected over time. A spot can be a mole, freckle, mark, lump, sore, patch or any skin area you want to watch. It is not a diagnosis and cannot rule skin cancer in or out.
If a lesion is new, changing, bleeding, non-healing or worrying you, arrange an in-person GP or skin-cancer clinic assessment.
