Get a sick note — also written 'sicknote' — online from an AHPRA-registered Australian GP. A sick note (also called a doctor's note) is medical evidence you can provide when illness or injury makes you unfit for work or study. DoctorsNote sick notes are reviewed within 24 hours and delivered by email. Fair Work recognises medical certificates as one type of evidence, while employers and education providers may apply reasonable evidence requirements. $14.95 flat fee — no appointment, no waiting room. If your employer specifically asks for a sick certificate or a doctors certificate, you can request one online the same way.
Australian employees are covered by the National Employment Standards (NES) under the Fair Work Act 2009. Your rights depend on your employment status:
Full-time and part-time employees accrue 10 days of combined personal/carer's leave per year. The same balance covers sick leave and carer's leave. Unused leave accumulates year to year.
Casual employees are entitled to 2 days of unpaid carer's leave per permissible occasion. Casuals don't accrue paid sick leave but cannot be subject to adverse action for using protected leave when supported by appropriate medical evidence.
Diagnosis is private — your sick note states only that you were unfit on the specified dates. Your employer cannot demand to know your specific medical condition.
You choose your doctor — your employer cannot direct you to a specific clinic, GP, or online provider. Online sick notes from AHPRA-registered practitioners are valid evidence.

Fair Work says evidence must convince a reasonable person, while workplace requirements may also apply. A DoctorsNote sick note is issued after GP review and includes a unique reference and QR code that an employer can check on our verification page. Acceptance of individual evidence remains a matter for the employer under the applicable workplace rules.

Australian employers face fake and fabricated sick notes. Several online services issue certificates from anonymous "partner doctors" — making verification difficult and creating doubt about authenticity.
DoctorsNote sick notes are built to stand up to scrutiny. Every certificate is signed by Dr Rupinder Singh Walia (FRACGP, AHPRA MED0001647256) — not a generic "AHPRA-registered partner". Dr Walia's registration is on the public AHPRA register; anyone can confirm his credentials at ahpra.gov.au. Each certificate carries a unique DN reference number and a QR code linking to our verification page, so employers can confirm authenticity in seconds.
Because Dr Walia personally reviews every application — not a rotating pool of doctors — clinical decisions are consistent across all DoctorsNote sick notes.

The AMA Guidelines for Medical Practitioners on Certificates Certifying Illness (2011) set the professional standard for medical certificates in Australia. These guidelines specify what a valid certificate must include and prohibit practices such as backdating or issuing certificates without proper clinical assessment.
DoctorsNote sick notes are issued strictly within these guidelines:
Your medical privacy is protected throughout the process:
Yes. The $14.95 assessment fee covers a certificate for either 1 or 2 consecutive days — you choose during your application, and the price is the same either way.
No. $14.95 is the complete, flat fee. There are no per-day charges, booking fees or add-ons at checkout — the price you see is the price you pay.
The fee is the same whether you need 1 or 2 days. You choose the dates that match your expected recovery, and your GP reviews the request for clinical appropriateness before issuing.
Our standard online certificate covers up to 2 consecutive days. If your situation needs longer or ongoing care, Dr Walia will recommend an in-person GP review — the appropriate setting for a longer assessment.
