Most adults have moles. What matters is knowing your own pattern and acting when one is new, changing or different. Skin360AI can keep photographs of one spot together over time, but a photo record cannot diagnose or exclude skin cancer.

Features commonly seen in ordinary moles

Many ordinary moles are symmetrical, have a smooth border and a fairly even colour. These descriptions are general only: a mole cannot be declared benign from a checklist or photograph.

The moles and spots to act on

Arrange an in-person assessment if a spot is new, changing in size, shape or colour, looks different from your other spots, bleeds, becomes painful or itchy, grows, or does not heal. See the detailed guide on when to worry about a mole and the ABCDE and ugly-duckling signs.

Why a longitudinal record helps

A single photograph is only a moment. A baseline and later same-spot photograph create a structured timeline that can be shown to a clinician. Skin360AI helps link those photographs and reminders to one spot; it does not provide an automated all-clear or replace an examination.

For a full skin check or any spot that concerns you, see your GP or a skin-cancer clinic in person.

Worried about a mole, mark or changing skin area?

Most skin-cancer advice tells you to watch for change. Skin360AI helps you keep photos of one or more spots connected over time. A spot can be a mole, freckle, mark, lump, sore, patch or any skin area you want to watch. It is not a diagnosis and cannot rule skin cancer in or out.

Frequently asked questions

How many moles is normal?

Most adults have between 10 and 40 moles, which is completely normal. Having a lot of moles (or atypical moles) is a risk factor worth being aware of, but the number itself is not a problem.

When is a mole a sign of skin cancer?

When it is changing in size, shape or colour, is newly appeared in adulthood, stands out from your other moles, or bleeds, itches or will not heal. See the ABCDE guide on whether a mole is skin cancer.

Should I have my moles mapped?

People with many moles, atypical moles, or a personal or family history of melanoma may benefit from regular in-person monitoring. For a single worrying mole, a photo review is a quick first step.

What is the difference between a mole and a melanoma?

A normal mole is symmetrical, evenly coloured and stable; a melanoma is often asymmetric, multi-coloured, larger or changing. If one mole stands out or changes, get it checked.
